Abstract:

The first finds of Manota in South Africa are documented, and two new species of this genus, natalensis sp. n. and whiteleyi sp. n., are described. The two species are not closely related, while whiteleyi-lowland coastal in distribution-shows affinities to an East African (Tanzanian) species. Our results indicate much lower species diversity of Manota in South Africa compared with the rainforest fauna of tropical Africa.
